State Law
There are strict statutes in place which govern cremation, we will make sure that all statutes are strictly adhered to both for the protection of the funeral home and your family.
There are several factors which determine the time frame in which a cremation will take place. The first being a mandatory 48 hour waiting period. Secondly, no cremation can take place without the permission of the medical examiner or coroner in the county of death. The medical examiner or coroner will not sign a cremation permit until a death certificate is signed. Doctors have five business days after receiving the death certificate to sign as to the cause of death. It is not uncommon for cremation to take place 5-10 days after the date of death. Please check with the funeral home before planning any service that would have cremated remains present.
